Intercounty Joust

The Intercounty Jousts are temporary available events launched by the administrators of Renaissance Kingdoms as part of the Autumn Tournament (2022) or Summer Tournament (2024).

  • Editions: 2022, 2024



Goal of the game

This event pits the various Renaissance Kingdoms counties against each other. Get tickets to defeat in 3 different ranks the computer to earn points for your county, as long as you are in the county capital. Win prizes or exchange the collected joustons in the joust shop.

Obtaining tickets

To obtain jousting tickets (Jousting ticket.png) you have these possibilities:

  • purchase them directly with gems (Tokens.png):
  • receive a free ticket free of charge with every 100 gems (Tokens.png) purchased (*)
  • get one free of charge



(*) Example: If you buy 150 gems you get 1 free ticket, the remaining 50 gems are kept in memory. If you buy 150 gems again, you will get 2 free tickets. (150 + 50 gems = 200 gems = 2x 100 gems = 2 tickets for free).

Note:

  • If the button to collect the free ticket is shaded and inactive, you have already collected your daily free ticket.
  • The jousting tickets are cumulative and can be used in all ranks of jousts



How to play?

  • Choose the Joust tab or click on the "Participate in the game]] button and select the difficulty of the game.
  • Start a new joust or continue in a previous one you started.



Joust

The halls of the lices are full to burst.
The audience is waiting to see the spears smash and helmets flying away...

A joust consists of a charge to the spear between two participants: a player and his oppenent (AI = Artificial Intelligence).
The opponent can bear different names: "Copper gallows", "Silver Scarecrow", etc.

Each joust takes place in one to several successive turns between the two participants.

  • A jousting ticket (Jousting ticket.png) is required for each round of a joust.
  • The information button (Jousting info button.png) at the bottom left shows all actions of the turns in the current joust.

If you unseat your opponent, you're in for a real treat as the crowd cheers! The joust ends at the end of the round when at least one of the participants has no more life points left.

Note:

  • Jousts can be accessed from any node in the Renaissance Kingdoms.
  • Clicking on the information button (Jousting info button.png brings up the turn history of the current joust.



Jousting ranks

A joust is classified according to rank. There are 3 different ranks:

  • Ring Joust : bronze
  • Saracen Joust : silver
  • Equestrian Joust : gold



The rank chosen defines:

  • the number of life points each participant has:
    • 3, 6 or 9 : Tournament 3 lifepoint bars.gif
  • the card types that are available
  • the rewards in case of a
    • victory = defeating the opponent
    • a non-victory = a draw or losing against the opponent



Note:

  • The Ring Jousts, Saracen Jousts and Equestrian Jousts start respectively:
  • To unlock the Saracen Jousts the player needs to win at least 1 Ring Joust.
  • To unlock the Equestrian Jousts the player needs to win at least 5 Saracen Jousts.



Jousting rounds

A round of jousting is divided into 4 main stages:

  • Draw cards.
  • Choose cards.
  • Play the turn.
  • Apply effects.



Draw cards

Cards are automatically drawn and dealt to both participants. A maximum of 5 cards can be drawn to make up your hand.

"Technique" cards may reduce the number of cards drawn:

  • 2 "Technique" cards may reduce cards drawn by 1 card.
  • 3 "Technique" cards may reduce cards drawn by 2 cards.
  • 4 "Technique" cards may reduce cards drawn by 3 cards.



Choose cards

The opponent chooses automatically his cards (between 1 and 4), they are displayed upside down.
Choose between 1 to 4 cards you want to play.
The order of selecting cards is not of importance.
You have the choice and your cards in your hands - choose what strategy you want to follow: random, thoughtful, well thought through...
The box left to the chosen cards informs you of the effects your chosen chards will have if you confirm your choice.

Note:

  • The combination of a copy of each card (Attack, Defence, Technique and Bleeding) results in instant victory or tie.

Is this your final word?
Your strategy is set, your cards definitively laid down?

Then all you have to do is confirm everything by clicking on the "Play the round (1 Jousting ticket.png)" button. After this click, the opponent's cards and their effects are revealed.

And the effects of the cards are applied automatically.

The resolution begins, in order, with your opponent and then with you:

  • Sum of the attack damage ("Attack, Bravery") of the opponent - Sum of the attack damage blocked by his "Defence" cards.
  • Sum of Bleed damage indicated by the markers under the "Bleed" icon.
  • Addition of "Bleed" markers.
  • Receipt of "Gambler" turn winnings.
  • Check victory conditions:
    • if met: declare victory, draw or defeat and receive game winnings
    • if not met: remove 0 to 3 cards from your hand next turn (draw cards - "Technique" card).

                          APPLYING THE EFFECTS
                          • The copper gallows inflicts no damage (2 - 6 < 0) on Eulalie_andignet. However, it receives 2 points of damage (3 - 1 = 2).
                          • No Bleed marker inflicts damage.
                          • Neither participant gives their opponent a Bleed marker.
                          • Neither participant's hand is reduced in number of cards in the next round (draw cards).
                          • No round winnings are distributed.

                          END OF TURN
                          None of the participants has 0 hit points. The game continues and round 2 begins



                          Cards

                          At the start of a round, you, the player, draw up to five cards to make up your ‘hand’.

                          You can lay them out on the field: from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 4.
                          Your opponent's cards are already laid down, face down.
                          All these cards form the ‘laid cards’.

                          Cards can be used according to the rank of the joust selected by you.
                          There are 6 different cards:

                          The card"Attack" :
                          • Inflicts 1 point of damage on the opponent. Cumulative effect if there are several Attack cards.

                          The card "Defence" :
                          • Blocks 1 point of damage inflicted by the opponent. Cumulative effect if there are several Defence cards.

                          The card"Technique" :
                          • Increases the value of all the following cards by 2 points: Attack, Defence and Bleeding. This effect cannot be accumulated.
                          • If the player plays several Technique cards, this will reduce the number of cards in the opponent's hand on the next turn, depending on the number of Technique cards played by the player
                            • 2 cards played = 1 card less for the opponent
                            • 3 cards played = 2 cards less for the opponent
                            • 4 Cards played = 3 cards less for the opponent
                          • This card can also be used with the Gambler card, which will increase the potential rewards obtained.
                          • Using two Technique cards removes any Bleeding effects the player may have received in previous rounds. It does not remove any potential Bleeding effects that the player may receive during the current turn.

                          • Places a 'Bleed' marker on the opponent, inflicting 1 point of damage each turn. Cumulative effect if several Bleeding cards are used.

                          • inflicts 1 point with each turn. Cumulative effect
                          JICarte09.png Equestrian Le marqueur "Bravery" :
                          • Removes the number of health points the player is missing from the opponent. The effect takes into account the player's hit points before calculating damage for the current turn. Not cumulative with the Technique card.

                          Taking part in the jousts in a capital city allows your character's county/duchy to gain points and move to the top of the tournament rankings!

                          This ranking and these points are updated every 24 hours at 6.00 pm (Paris time), and are harmonised according to the active population of the county at the start of the tournament. To consult it, simply click on : See the rankings

                          At the end of the event, all participating characters of the winning county will receive exclusive rewards.
                          Note:

                          • Your character can take part in the jousts on any node. But you will only score points for your characters county if you takes part in the jousts in a capital city.

                          The crowd is in an uproar behind the palisades, the heralds are finishing their vocalizations, the squires are polishing their helms and blunting their pleasure lances.
