The Count's office can be accessed via:

In the office the Count or Duke can:

Appoint

The Count / Duke may appoint a function to the 11 other council members:

It is possible to:

  • appoint functions 22 times on the day of the confirmation as new Count/Duke
  • appoint 2 times on all other days

It is not possible to appoint a council member that already has a function. The council member first has to be dismissed of the function he/she holds to be appointed a new or the same function.

Note:

Dismiss

The Count / Duke may dismiss council members of their functions.

Note:

Change the County options

Count's office Change County options.png

The Count / Duke may change the options for the county/duchy to:

Forcing automatic maintenance means all open mines of the county will be maintained automatically each day at reset. The Mines Superindentend / the Sheriff may still maintain the mines manually during the day, the option does not block them from doing so. Automatic maintenance is only possible if there is enough material (ounces of iron ore, tons of stone) in the county's inventory. If there is not sufficient material to cover the maintenance costs not all or none of the mines can be maintained automatically.

The minimum amount allocated each week to the armed forces varies from 0 to 1,000 pounds.

Appoint a new rector

Count's office appoint rector.png

The Count / Duke may appoint a character to the function of the rector of the university. He can change the rector at any time if necessary and it can be any character the Count wants to entrust with this office, it is not limited to council members only.

Manage the hiring of civil servants

Count's office civil servants.png

The Count / Duke may approve characters that requested to work as civil servants. The approval itself is "nice to have", but does not affect the characters requesting it in any way. Without approval characters can still:

Manage the castle's banquets (deactivated)

In the public imagination the Count/Duke and his advisors live in excessive luxury and refinement. And, of course, it is taxes that finance all this. In a word, they gorge themselves and live off the backs of the people.

Every day, the Count had to be able to distribute 20 meals served at a pure loss. (disabled) If he did not have enough food or money (to compensate for lacking meals), then the County or Duchy lost prestige. (disabled)

The county's prestige level

Count's office prestige.png

Prestige symbolises the greatness and reputation that each County or Duchy enjoys among its neighbours and the Kingdoms in general.

Every 10 days, the Earl or Duke has the opportunity, during celebrations, to squander a certain amount of objects and pounds for no gain whatsoever.

The magnificence of these lavish expenditures demonstrates the greatness of the province to the world.

Give money to the kingdom

Count's office Donation to Kingdom.png

The Count / Duke may transfer pounds to the Kingdom from the coffers of the County or Duchy, subject to the Sheriff's approval.

The amount of pounds that can be transferred varies from 1 pound to the entire treasury of the County/Duchy.

Manage the publication of the audits (disabled)

Count's office audit.png

Audits were very useful in many circumstances (for example, to find out what a previous council had done, etc.). They could be consulted for one year after their publication. (disabled)

The Count / Duke could choose whether or not to make an audit public. (disabled)

Manage Treasury bonds

Count's office Treasury bond.png

The Count / Duke may approve or reject the issuance of treasury bonds proposed by the Sheriff. Once approved they may be distributed by the Sheriff on the market in the capital of the County or Duchy.

Manage the warning threshold for councillor's expeditures

Count's office warning threshold.png

The Count / Duke may set a maximum daily limit for expenditure incurred by:

These maximum daily limits may be exceeded by councillors. A diary event then alerts the Count: Councillor [Councillor's name] has exceeded the daily limit of XXX pounds that you set. Off with his head!

It is therefore primarily a control tool.

Steal money

Count's office steal money.png

The Count / Duke may steal money from the County or Duchy coffers to supplement his income:

  • on the day of his election: 50 pounds
  • from the tenth day of his term of office: 500 pounds

Manage the Offices giving influence

Count's office create influencial offices.png

The Count / Duke has 250 influence points to distribute via titles or offices. It is not possible to create a title/office worth more than the influence points he has left to distribute, but it is possible to create 1 title/office worth all the available influence points he can distribute. Therefore a title/office can give between 20 and 250 influence points to the character receiving it.

The same office allows the Count/Duke to remove given titles and office from characters.

Approving a company for a major quest (deactivated)

The Count / Duke was able to approve companies during the great quest of the Bull of Seleucos. Treasure hunters had to be part of a company to participate and to find the treasures of the quest.

The option is no longer available in the Count's office.

Tumult

Count's office Tumult.png

When trying to enter the office you might end up seeing the message "What a tumult! What a stir! It's impossible to make yourself heard or obeyed. Everything's going amiss!" instead of the regular office view. This is the result of the county not having state points to allow working.

It is the Sheriff's duty to hire civil servants to upkeep the state points. It is randomly possible to enter the office despite not having any state points. But since it is randomly happening it is a tiresome business to try again and again to check if the office can be accessed, and no one knows for how long the doors will be open before closing on you again.
