A county or duchy is a group of villages of which one is the capital. In this guide, the term county will be mentioned almost all the time. However, it is important to know that the terms "county" and "duchy" mean exactly the same thing, and in non-French speaking countries, other terms are used (County in England, Graafschaft in Germany, Ducato and Republicca in Italy, etc.). All these terms refer to the same thing: a given region governed by an elected council.
The counties are grouped into a kingdom.
The county has several institutions:
- The council, elected in the county elections is headed by an elected duke or count elected by and from among the councillors
- The court where the prosecutor and the mayor can initiate trials which the judge will lead.
- The university where one can attend courses to improve one's knowledge or go to the library to read books.
- The cathedral is where you can meet the bishop or archbishop and the members of the diocesan council. You can also read the Book of Virtues there.
These institutions are accessible to anyone from the village bailiwick.
Any character or mayor can donate money to their county there.
