Royal Captain

From Official Wiki of the Renaissance Kingdoms

For one (or more) of the counties/duchies of his/her Kingdom, the Sovereign may appoint a Royal Captain who will have the special ability (in addition to those normally attributed to a Captain) to change the method of appointing the bishop of a diocese (thus transferring this power from the Pope to the Sovereign, if and only if his army holds the status quo of the capital of the diocese in question.

This change in the method of appointing the bishop will therefore allow the Sovereign to appoint the new bishop at the end of the current bishop's term of office (it is impossible for the Sovereign to dismiss a bishop) from the list of potential candidates available for consultation at the cathedral.

It is therefore more appropriate to change the method of appointing the bishop shortly before the end of the current bishop's term of office, as a bishop's term of office lasts four months and it would be presumptuous to claim that the status quo can be maintained for so long... since a papal army could very well come and restore the status quo in the meantime.

Royal Captains gain 150 influence points.
